Fraud schemes are tailored to the age and interests of potential victims, from children who play online games to the elderly who receive calls about "relatives in need." This was announced on November 23 by the press service of the Department for the Organization of combating the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

"Basic techniques such as pressure, false authority, and money withdrawal methods are universal. But criminals adjust the reasons for contact and the style of communication to a person's age, interests and life experience," the agency's Telegram channel says.

According to the Interior Ministry, for teenagers aged 9-17, the main risks are related to games and social networks, where criminals disguise themselves as streamers or administrators, offering "prizes" or "pumping" and extorting parents' card information. Young people aged 18-25 are more likely to encounter fake vacancies, investment platforms, and reports of "hacking" of public Services."

People aged 26-40, according to the agency, become victims of calls from fake employees of the Central Bank (CB) of the Russian Federation or Rosfinmonitoring, who convince them to transfer funds to "reserve accounts". For middle-aged citizens (45-60 years old) schemes with imitation of government agencies reporting on "account blocking" or "terrorist financing" are typical.

Older people over the age of 61 are most often faced with "multi-pass" scenarios: calls about a "relative in trouble," checks from pseudo-housing and communal services employees, or offers to become couriers of stolen money.

Earlier, on November 17, the UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region warned that attackers in messengers were actively sending messages on behalf of management companies (CC). They are trying to gain access to passport data, SNILS and other confidential information of citizens.
