Thousands of residents of the northern territory of Australia were left without electricity as a result of a tropical cyclone that triggered destructive winds. This was reported on November 23 by the Reuters news agency.

"A tropical cyclone has brought destructive winds to the region, including the capital [of the northern Territory of Australia] Darwin," the article says.

According to the agency, wind gusts reached 57 m/s. According to the authorities, about 19 thousand people were left without electricity due to the hurricane.

Authorities have urged residents to stay away from downed power lines while rescuers assess the damage. Darwin Airport was also temporarily closed.

On November 8, a hurricane in the Brazilian state of Paraná killed at least five people and injured 130 others. The cyclone is associated with a cold front, with wind gusts of more than 100 km/h in states such as Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Sao Paulo. In addition, the wind that hit the city of Rio Bonito do Iguazu reached more than 250 km/h in some areas. At the same time, the hurricane may move, affecting the coast of Rio de Janeiro and Espiritu Santo.
