On November 23, US President Donald Trump accused Democratic congressmen of sedition after they called on the US military not to comply with his orders.

"The traitors who ordered the military to disobey my orders should be in prison right now. <...> This was incitement at the highest level, and sedition is a serious crime," the American leader said.

Trump stressed that the actions of the Democrats have no justification and qualified their statements as a direct violation of the law. According to him, "many great lawyers" agree with this assessment of the situation.

On November 3, Trump announced that he could limit federal funding to New York, with the exception of the most necessary minimum, if Zohran Mamdani wins the mayoral election. He stressed that he would prefer to see a Democratic mayor who "achieved success" rather than "a communist without experience and with a reputation for complete failure." Later, on November 5, the head of the White House called Mamdani's victory in the elections a loss of US sovereignty.
