Russia is ready to work in the G20 as part of Washington's upcoming presidency of the group in 2026. This was announced on November 22 by Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, who heads the delegation at the current G20 summit in South Africa.
"Russia is always active in the G20, regardless of who is the chairman. We always try to contribute to a positive development agenda," Oreshkin said.
He added that during his speech he stressed that Russia supports everything regarding moving forward, removing barriers and reforming institutions, as well as reducing risks to the global economy.
"We are ready to participate constructively," said the deputy head of the Presidential Administration.
The G20 summit is taking place in the South African capital of Johannesburg on November 22-23. At the opening ceremony, the chairman of the event, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, dedicated his speech to inequality, inclusive growth and the role of developing countries in shaping the global agenda. After the opening ceremony, the leaders' talks continued behind closed doors.
