Belarus allows trailers and semi-trailers of Lithuania to move around the republic
Trailers and semi-trailers with Lithuanian registration have been granted permission to travel through the Belarusian territory. The relevant resolution of the Council of Ministers of Belarus was published on November 22 on the national legal Internet portal.
The document allows these types of vehicles to cross the border between the two countries through road checkpoints, including Benyakoni (from the Lithuanian side — Shalchininkai) and Kamenny Log (Myadininkai), for cargo operations and back.
It is also allowed to move between these points in an empty state. The resolution came into force from the moment of its adoption. The traffic restrictions for Polish trailers and semi-trailers remain in force.
Lithuania has been completely closing its border with Belarus since October 29. Thus, the last two checkpoints, Myadininkai and Shalchininkai, were shut down. Exceptions were made only for diplomats, transit traffic to Kaliningrad, as well as citizens of Lithuania and EU countries.
On November 19, Lithuanian Interior Minister Vladislav Kondratovich announced that Lithuania was ready to reopen the border with the neighboring country. The State Border Committee of Belarus announced the next day that it had received an official notification from Lithuania about the opening of two border checkpoints on November 20.
