- The media learned about the appointment of Driscoll as Trump's new special representative for Ukraine
US Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll has been appointed the new special representative of US President Donald Trump. This was reported on November 21 by The Guardian newspaper.
"Trump has appointed Driscoll— a friend and former classmate of [U.S. Vice President J.D.] Vance, as his new 'special representative.' According to American sources, a group of American generals is likely to fly to Moscow at the end of next week to discuss a "peace plan" with the Kremlin," the article says.
According to US officials, Trump intends to exert "unprecedented pressure" on Kiev and "threatens to stop vital intelligence sharing and arms supplies to Ukraine if it does not come to an agreement."
Earlier, a delegation of senior U.S. military officials led by Driscoll held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev.
On November 19, the Axios portal reported on the details of the US plan to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. It involves the transfer of the territories of Donbass controlled by Ukraine to the Russian Federation in exchange for security guarantees from Washington.
On November 21, Ukrainian Leader Volodymyr Zelensky discussed by phone with US Vice President Jay Dee Vance the details of the proposed US peace plan for Ukraine.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing on the same day that there had been no substantive discussion of the US peace plan with Russia. However, according to him, the effective work of the Russian military should convince Zelensky that it is better to negotiate, and do it now.
