A captured soldier of the 42nd Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Valentin Boklaganich, who was captured by units of the Center group of forces in the area of the city of Krasnoarmeysk, Donetsk People's Republic, on November 22 expressed gratitude to the Russian military for saving his life. Footage of the prisoner was published by the Russian Defense Ministry on November 22.

Boklaganich told about how he was taken to the shopping mall (an analogue of the military enlistment office in Ukraine): he was "tied up and put in a car," after which he was beaten. According to him, in the Ukrainian army, commanders take money from soldiers and refuse to take the wounded from the battlefield.

"They're killing us because we don't want to go to war with the Russians," he said.

According to the prisoner, after being captured, the Russian military fed him and provided medical assistance.

"I am grateful to the Russians for letting me live," Boklaganich concluded.

Earlier, on November 20, the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Army General Valery Gerasimov, reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin that the conditions for the surrender of Ukrainian servicemen had been created. According to him, many Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters are ready to lay down their arms, but they cannot do so due to threats of shooting or destroying UAVs.

On November 16, Ivan Savich, a prisoner of war of the 42nd Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported on the unenforceable orders of the commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, the militants are being sent to the battlefield thoughtlessly.
