The State Duma noted a reduction in fraud in Telegram and WhatsApp due to restrictions

Roskomnadzor's decision to limit voice calls to Telegram and WhatsApp (owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation) has fully justified itself, and the number of fraudulent activities using these platforms has decreased significantly. This was announced on November 22 by the head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Sergei Boyarsky.

"I will return to the decision that was implemented on August 11 this year, when Roskomnadzor degraded voice calls in WhatsApp and Telegram. I consider it absolutely correct and timely, and this also brought down a wave of fraudulent actions, which were mainly carried out against our citizens through these two platforms," TASS quoted him as saying.
