One pedestrian was killed, two more were hospitalized in serious condition as a result of an accident in Slavgorod, Altai Territory, involving a Mercedes, whose driver left the scene and is currently wanted. This was announced on November 22 in the press service of the main directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the region.

"On November 22, a driver driving a Mercedes car hit three pedestrians in the city of Slavgorod and fled the scene of the accident. As a result of the accident, one pedestrian died, two were hospitalized in serious condition," the agency said in a statement posted on its Telegram channel.

It is noted that the identity of the motorist has been established, and police officers are currently taking all necessary measures to detain him. According to this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles"). It was placed under personal control by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the Altai Territory, Police Lieutenant General Sergei Kamyshev.

The State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry told Izvestia a day earlier that 260 road accidents had been recorded on Russian roads over the past day, in which 31 people were killed and 310 injured. It was emphasized that of the total number of people killed in accidents, eight pedestrians were killed, and another 86 were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured are 15 young pedestrians, nine of them were injured when crossing the roadway in unintended places.
