Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green resigns on January 5, 2026 amid a conflict with US President Donald Trump. This was reported on November 21 by the Associated Press (AP) with reference to a video posted by Green on the social network X.

The congresswoman explained her decision, saying that she had always been "hated in Washington" and had never felt like part of the political elite.

According to the agency, her resignation was the result of a public rift with Trump in the past few months. The AP recalled that Green criticized the head of the White House for his position on issues related to documents related to the infamous financier Jeffrey Epstein, as well as on foreign policy and healthcare. In response, Trump called her a "traitor" and "weird," saying he would support her opponent in next year's election.

Green, who has been one of the most vocal supporters of Trump's policies, stressed that she has always remained loyal to him, except for some issues. She added that the attacks from the American leader on her were "dishonest and wrong," and said that "loyalty should be a two-way street."

Earlier, on September 10, Green announced that she would introduce an amendment banning American citizens from spending taxes on Ukraine.
