FOX 11 reported on the rescue of an emaciated 14-year-old girl from an obese family

In the United States, police have detained family members who held a 14-year-old girl captive and starved her. This was reported on November 21 by FOX 11 News channel.

It is specified that since 2020, the girl has not attended school and has not been examined by doctors. The family locked her in a room, starved her, and watched her directly through a webcam. As a result, the teenager began to weigh less than 16 kg due to malnutrition.

"The victim was taken from her home in August. In addition to severe exhaustion, the girl suffered from multiple organ failure, including respiratory failure, heart failure, severe acute hepatitis and pancreatitis," the article says.

At the moment, the girl has been discharged from the hospital and is gradually recovering, despite disappointing forecasts from doctors who initially believed that she was unlikely to survive.

"The doctors and nurses did not know if she would survive," the TV channel reported.

The child's family was charged with physical and emotional abuse of a minor. They face about 80 years in prison.

In November 2024, the mutilated body of the adopted daughter of a former employee of the Department of Family and Children, Diana Natasha Mack, was found in Sebring, Florida. During the investigation, law enforcement agencies found surveillance cameras that indicated that the girl was locked in the garage, beaten and starved.
