Putin admitted that the US plan could be the basis for a settlement.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on November 21 that the US peace plan for Ukraine could be the basis for a settlement of the conflict.
"I believe that it can also be used as the basis for a final settlement. But this text has not been discussed with us in detail," Putin said at a meeting with permanent members of the Russian Security Council.
The Russian leader clarified that the peace plan of US President Donald Trump was discussed before the meeting in Alaska, where the American side called for flexibility in settlement issues. Putin stressed that Moscow is ready for this, as it has always insisted on a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
At the same time, after the negotiations in Alaska, there was a pause in the discussion of the settlement. The President also noted the absence of a substantive discussion of the text of the plan with the Russian side.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on the same day that Russia remains on the platform of the discussions that took place in Anchorage on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said on November 12 that the situation in relations between Russia and the United States could not be called a pause, as contacts between the two countries were held at various levels.
