The doctor told about the bad habits that lead to thrombosis
A person's bad habits lead to thrombosis. Physiologist Alexander Kalyuzhin, senior lecturer at the Department of Fundamental Medical Disciplines of the State University of Education, told about this on Friday, November 21.
Speaking about the harmful habits that lead to thrombosis, the physiologist recalled the Virchow triad: damage to the vascular wall, slowing blood flow and increased clotting. Any bad habit hits at least one of these links, he noted.
"Smoking is the main "saboteur" of the endothelium, the inner lining of blood vessels. Tobacco smoke toxins cause chronic microinflammation, activate platelets, making the blood more "sticky". With excess weight and a sedentary lifestyle, the risk of thrombosis increases significantly," the specialist explained in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .
According to Kalyuzhin, prolonged sitting leads to stagnation of venous blood in the legs, and slow blood flow in the veins is an ideal condition for the formation of a blood clot, especially in older people and with varicose veins.
He added that dehydration, including after drinking alcohol, thickens the blood. He singled out as a separate risk the independent use of hormonal contraceptives, anabolic steroids, "hormonal" dietary supplements without consulting a doctor, especially against the background of smoking and obesity.
Earlier, on November 18, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (FAS) reduced the price of a drug for the prevention and treatment of venous thrombosis by 2.5%, the Moscow City News Agency reports.
On the same day, doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov warned of the high risks associated with taking blood-thinning drugs and called on the Russian Ministry of Health to ban their use without strict indications. 360.ru .
He stressed that these drugs should only be prescribed by a doctor and taken under his supervision, as their misuse can lead to severe bleeding, according to the website. kp.ru .
Myasnikov added that blood-thinning drugs can be prescribed only in cases of serious diseases such as atrial fibrillation, deep vein thrombosis, strokes and oncological diseases, writes Moscow 24.
