On November 21, military personnel of the Center group of forces told Izvestia about countering Ukrainian drones and the work of sniper groups.

Platoon commander Andrey said that the unit is working on targets around the clock. According to him, during the day they are firing at wings and FPV drones, and at night they are firing at Baba Yaga-type attack vehicles.

He noted that the calculators take the target ahead of time, taking into account the speed of flight. He added that when the assault groups are under threat and Baba Yaga tries to bombard them with airdrops, the soldiers immediately open fire.

Answering a question from Izvestia about the future of snipers against the background of the rapid development of military robotics, Andrey expressed confidence that sniper units will remain in demand and will continue to perform critically important work.

Sniper Vladimir spoke about a case when his group ensured the advance of an assault unit: the fighters could not approach the house because of a machine gunner whom the drones could not reach, and then snipers had to be involved. After they managed to eliminate him, the assault group was able to continue advancing.

He also noted the close cooperation with the units of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs): when there is high activity during the day, they are taken out at night under the cover of "birds", and everyone takes their own point of responsibility.

"First they called my son, then I went. I couldn't stay at home while he was fighting. My wife supported me — she's my reliable rear," Vladimir shared with Izvestia correspondent Dmitry Astrakhan.

Earlier that day, the commander-in-chief of the infantry battalion with the call sign Bekh told Izvestia military correspondent Egor Kildibekov how a fighter of the 4th brigade of the South group of forces with the call sign Tuzit Odin captured nine militants during the storming of the Matrona Moskovskaya mine. A Russian attack aircraft entered the mine alone against 14 militants and threw pebbles at them for about 10 minutes, and then threw an anti-tank mine. As a result, the survivors surrendered to him.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
