The lifting of sanctions against Russia is an important step for the economy of the European Union (EU). This was announced on November 21 by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto.

"The plan (the US project to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. — Ed.) talks about the lifting of sanctions, about the reintegration of Russians into the global economy, which is important not so much for Russians as for ourselves," the minister said at a press conference of the Indo-Pacific Summit of the EU.

According to Szijjarto, the European economy has faced obstacles that have not previously arisen in the EU, due to the destruction of the European-Russian system of relations.

Anitta Hipper, a representative of the EU's Foreign policy service, said on November 10 that the European Commission (EC) could not give a timeline for the preparation of the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions, but was actively working on it.

Prior to that, on November 8, Tomasz Zdechowski, a member of the European Parliament, told Izvestia that the EU wanted to speed up the discussion of the 20th package of sanctions. However, it is still unknown whether it will be adopted by the end of 2025. He added that the decision depends on the progress of negotiations and the ability of all Member States to reach a consensus.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, noted that EU countries are likely to continue to invent new restrictions against Russians, exacerbating the current situation with additional elements.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
