The dog handler talked about protecting the dog's paws in winter
Many dog breeds tolerate frosts quite well, and they do not require additional clothing or shoes, but pets' paws must be protected from reagents. This was announced by the President of the Russian Cynological Federation, Vladimir Golubev, on Friday, November 21.
"Therefore, we strongly recommend that you train your puppy to shoes at an early age. Maybe one day it will come in handy," he said in an interview with Radio 1.
According to the dog handler, this is the most versatile and safe solution. The shoes will reliably protect the dog from both reagents and frost, he added.
There are also shoe covers for pets. They are disposable. The specialist recommended choosing options with a reliable tape, as well as waterproof ones.
Golubev noted that the easiest option is to pre—treat the paws of dogs with protective wax or cream. These products create a protective layer, preventing damage from salt, reagents and snow. After a walk, you need to thoroughly wash off the layer with water.
In turn, Mikhail Shelyakov, a veterinarian of the highest category, warned on November 18 in an interview with RT that temperatures around 0 degrees, accompanied by sleet or rain, pose a greater danger to dogs than severe frosts.
According to the expert, wet wool practically loses its heat-protective properties in such conditions. 360.ru .
On November 14, Golubev said that introducing a puppy to snow is part of proper socialization, and the first reaction largely determines whether the pet will love winter walks.
Earlier, on November 10, a dog handler told the Moscow City News agency that using a GPS tracker would help owners quickly find a missing dog in the first minutes in case of disappearance.
