Merz discussed the US peace plan by phone with Macron, Starmer and Zelensky
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz held telephone talks with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, French leader Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, during which he discussed the US peace initiative with them. This was announced on November 21 by the official representative of the German government, Stefan Cornelius.
He clarified that all participants in the conversation welcome the efforts of the United States to end the Ukrainian conflict. In addition, everyone came to the conclusion that in order to reach mutual understanding in the conflict, it is important to take into account that the line of contact is the starting point in negotiations, the government representative said.
"They (Merz, Macron and Starmer. We assured Ukraine of our continued and full support on the path to a long—term and just peace and agreed to continue to pursue the goal of protecting vital European and Ukrainian interests for the long term," Cornelius added.
