Toyota has changed the RAV4 crossover for China
The FAW-Toyota joint venture has unveiled a new RAV4 crossover in China for the local market. The model differs from the current generation version for the global market, which debuted in the spring of this year, the Izvestia correspondent reports from Guangzhou on November 21.
Toyota RAV4 has a more aggressive design than the crossover for other countries. The exterior design style is borrowed from modifications of this model called Woodland and Adventure, which are offered in other markets. The RAV4 is 4620 mm long and has a wheelbase of 2690 mm.
Inside, the Chinese Toyota RAV4 is distinguished by the presence of larger screens compared to the global crossover and its own multimedia system. The diagonal of the central display is 15.6 inches (compared to 10.25 or 12.9 inches for the "world" SUV).
Another important difference lies in the engine range. While the RAV4 is offered on the global market only with hybrid powerplants, in China it will be available with a non—electrified two-liter naturally aspirated engine with a capacity of 171 hp. Hybrid engines will also be available with 2.0 and 2.5 engines. The crossover will be equipped with an all-wheel drive system.
In China, the RAV4 will also be produced by another joint venture, GAC—Toyota. His crossover has a different name, Wildlander, and has the same front design with a honeycomb grille as the global version.
Earlier that day, at the Guangzhou International Auto Show in China, Aion (GAC sub-brand) held a presentation of the compact crossover i60. It was developed in close cooperation with Toyota and is based on the Japanese Toyota bZ3Xgo model presented on the Chinese market. Representatives of the GAC headquarters did not rule out the possibility of the Aion i60 appearing on the Russian market in the future.
