260 road accidents have occurred in Russia over the past 24 hours.

Over the past day, 260 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 31 people were killed and 310 injured. 23 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on November 21 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

17 bus accidents were recorded, in which one person was killed, and 17 more road users, including three children, needed medical attention. 10 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.

As a result of 92 accidents involving pedestrians, eight people were killed, and 86 more were injured in various degrees of severity. There are 15 young pedestrians among the injured, nine of them were injured when crossing the roadway in unintended places. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 56 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 36 outside their area of operation.

36 accidents involving minors were also registered, 37 young road users, including 20 passengers, were injured in them. Two children were killed: a passenger and a pedestrian. Both incidents involved trucks.

So, in the Irkutsk region, in the early morning on 215 km of the Taishet — Chuna — Bratsk regional highway, a 58-year-old truck driver skidded his semi-trailer into the oncoming lane, where a crossover collided with him. A 55-year-old passenger car driver and his 10-year-old son, who was wearing a seat belt in the back passenger seat, were killed in the accident. Another passenger of the crossover was hospitalized with injuries.

In the Leningrad Region, in the evening, on 26 km of the Antashi — Ropsha — Krasnoe Selo highway of regional significance, a 54-year-old truck driver allowed the stabilizer support to extend and ran over a 12-year-old schoolboy who was accompanied by adults on the sidewalk. The boy died. The truck driver initially fled the scene of the accident, but traffic police officers quickly tracked him down.

According to the operational data of the State Traffic Inspectorate, in the twenty days of November 2025, 745 accidents involving children occurred in the Russian Federation, in which 21 minors under the age of 16 were killed and 804 injured.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminded motorists that child passengers are still one of the most vulnerable categories among underage road users. When driving in a car with a child, it is important for drivers to choose a safe driving style. Sudden maneuvers and lane changes should be avoided. First of all, we are talking about overtaking, which involves driving into the oncoming lane: even where it is allowed by traffic regulations, there remains a risk of an emergency due to violations or inattention of another driver.

If you are driving a cargo vehicle, correctly assess its dimensions and speed, weather conditions, condition and width of the roadway, terrain and the possibility of skidding. Remember that not only your life and health depend on your skills, driving experience, well—being, law-abiding driving behavior and good technical condition of the vehicle, but also the lives and health of other road users," said the head of the Department of road Safety Promotion and prevention of child traffic injuries of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich.
