The head of AVTOVAZ announced the need to index prices for Lada

The price of Lada cars will be indexed due to an increase in the actual cost of cars. This was stated by the head of AVTOVAZ Maxim Sokolov on the sidelines of the forum "Transport of Russia", reports TASS on November 21.

According to Sokolov, the last time Lada car prices were indexed was almost a year ago, in January 2025, and the increase was less than 2% — several times lower than the official inflation rate.

"It is impossible to restrain growth for so long — imports have increased, aggressive dumping from Chinese drains has put pressure on the market. Prices should be adjusted according to the actual cost," the top manager emphasized.

By the end of 2025, AvtoVAZ intends to sell 370,000 vehicles, including exports, of which 350,000 are on the domestic market. The decrease relative to 2024 will be about 23% (459 thousand Lada units were sold then). In 2026, the company expects sales growth under favorable macroeconomic conditions.

In total, the passenger car market in the Russian Federation will be within 1.4 million units by the end of the year, Sokolov predicts. The stocks of foreign cars and Lada in the Russian Federation have leveled off and are kept in the range of 60-65 thousand cars, this is a balanced two-month supply for comfortable operation of dealerships, he said.

He also said that AvtoVAZ expects to reduce the Central Bank's key rate to 13-13.5%, which should stimulate the market for new domestic and imported cars in the Russian Federation, since about 80% of sales are accounted for by the use of lending instruments.
