Sobyanin noted the growth of passenger traffic on Moscow's central diameters
Over the entire period of operation of the Moscow Central Diameters, passengers have made almost 1.6 billion trips there, and now up to 500 thousand trips along the IDC are carried out in the city alone per day. This was stated by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.
He recalled that six years ago a new era of railway transport began in Moscow — the MCD-1 and MCD-2 were launched. "The first two diameters were the beginning of the creation of an entire surface metro network," Sobyanin wrote on his channel in the MAX. — Today there are four IDCs in the capital region, 137 stations are operating. The length of the lines has exceeded 300 km."
As the mayor noted, passenger traffic at the IDC is growing every year. The central diameters "have become a full-fledged surface metro, an alternative to other types of urban transport," he stressed.
"The diameters are maximally connected with other types of Moscow transport: more than 100 transfers to the metro, the MCC and between the MCC,— Sobyanin wrote. "The tariffs integrated with the metro have allowed the diameters to become an above—ground extension of the Moscow Metro."
The mayor called the use of modern and comfortable Russian-made trains there one of the advantages of the IDC. At the same time, "the development of the IDC does not stop: modern passenger services are being introduced, new stations are being built and existing stations are being reconstructed, modern Moscow city railway stations and other travel infrastructure are being created," Sobyanin stressed.
Earlier in November, the mayor announced the launch of the first T1 tram in Moscow, calling this a historic day for the development of rail transport. The 27 km long T1 route will connect the Universitet metro station in the southwest with the Metro City in the east.
"MTD will be a powerful addition to the existing metro infrastructure and will operate according to the standards of the surface street subway, providing fast, comfortable and reliable trips," said Sobyanin.
