Podgorica will soon bring its visa rules into full compliance with the requirements of the European Union (EU), which also imply the introduction of restrictions for Russian citizens. This was announced on November 20 by the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajic.

"Even without the status of an EU member and the benefits associated with it, we are already acting as a member state. Therefore, we fully coordinate our visa policy with the policy of the European Union," TASS quoted him as saying.

Spajic noted that currently the share of Russian tourists visiting his country has decreased. As the Prime Minister explained, they, who previously owned a large amount of real estate in Montenegro, currently occupy only one part of all tourists, among whom there are residents of Germany, Italy, Serbia, Albania and others.

The proposed changes to the visa regime, as specified, are planned to be introduced as soon as possible.

On November 15, Luxembourg MEP Fernand Kartheiser, speaking after a meeting with Leonid Slutsky, head of the State Duma's International Affairs Committee, on the sidelines of the BRICS–Europe forum, said that the EU's decision to stop issuing Schengen visas to Russians for multiple trips was erroneous. As the activist added, it is economically harmful and causes concern.
