Almost $30 million, which was planned to be allocated to help Ukraine, will now be invested by the United States in the development of domestic mining and processing of gallium and scandium. This was announced on November 20 by the Pentagon press service.

"The U.S. Department of War today announced the allocation of a grant of $29.9 million to ElementUS Minerals, LLC (ElementUSA). <...> These investments use funds from the Law on Additional Financing for Ukraine in 2022," the statement said.

Mike Cadenazzi, Assistant Secretary of War for Industrial Base Development Policy, emphasized that gallium and scandium are key minerals needed for a wide range of defense industries and equipment. He noted that the development of domestic production of these metals is a priority for the Pentagon.

Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Vasily Nebenzia said on November 20 that Europe no longer has financial resources for Ukraine. He added that they are preparing their armies for an armed conflict with Russia.
