The Hydrometeorological Center reported that up to 90% of Russia's territory was covered with snow.

By now, 90% of Russia's territory is covered with snow, and its expected melting will not significantly reduce this figure, as it will drop to only 87%. This was announced on November 21 by the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand.

"If we estimate the established snow cover in Russia by area, then by the current moment about 90% of the territory is covered with snow. And even if it comes down, the northern half of the country will be free of it due to the warm weather in the coming days, 87% will still remain," he told TASS.

According to Vilfand's forecast, by the end of this week, the entire territory of the Volga Federal District will be free of snow. The forecaster clarified that this type of precipitation is present in large quantities in the mountains, and also added that the Northwestern Federal District, as well as the Far East, are already covered with snow and ice.
