About 40 people died in central Vietnam due to floods

More than 40 people have died and dozens are missing in the central provinces of Vietnam as a result of floods, river flooding and landslides after prolonged heavy rains. This was reported on November 20 by the state-run news portal of Vietnam News.

"Floods and landslides in the central and southern regions of Vietnam have killed at least 40 people and left ten missing," the publication says.

The largest number of deaths was counted in the province of Daklak their number was 16 people. In addition, deaths were reported in three other provinces of Khanh Hoa, Lamdong, Gialai, as well as in the cities of Hue and Da Nang.

It is noted that rescue services managed to evacuate more than 61 thousand people. As a result of the flood, 146 houses were damaged and more than 52 thousand were flooded. The flood damaged more than 13,000 grams of rice and crops. In total, more than 30 thousand species of livestock and poultry were killed in these regions.

Earlier, on November 14, at least two people died in Southern California as a result of floods caused by heavy rains. In the early morning, residents of the affected areas were evacuated due to the threat of flash floods and landslides, especially in areas affected by recent forest fires. Forecasters warned of the second, most dangerous phase of the storm in the counties of Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Ventura and in mountainous areas.
