- A pensioner in France waited for hospitalization in a hospital corridor for almost three days.
In France, a 99-year-old woman with pulmonary edema spent 64 hours on a stretcher in a hospital corridor. This was announced on November 20 by the woman's granddaughter Aline Pershe on the social network Facebook (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the territory of the Russian Federation).
According to her, the grandmother was admitted to the emergency department of Rouen University Hospital on October 17, and on Monday, October 20, she was finally admitted to the geriatric ward. As a result, the pensioner had to wait almost three days for hospitalization in the hospital corridor.
Pershe said that there were not enough beds available in the medical facility and there were many similar patients lying on stretchers in the corridor.
Despite the conditions of hospitalization, the girl expressed gratitude to the medical staff for their attention to the patient.
"The nurses' assistants and even the manager came to us. They wished they could have done more," Pershe said.
Later, the Ouest-France newspaper, citing hospital management, reported that in those days the emergency department was facing a very intense workload amid a seasonal outbreak of the epidemic.
Earlier, on August 6, The Mirror newspaper reported that in the United States, a comatose patient, Danella Gallegos, woke up a few minutes before the operation began, before doctors were going to extract internal organs from her for donation. Gallegos fell into a coma after an unspecified medical complication. Before the surgery, the doctors saw the woman's reaction, and, contrary to the coordinator's advice to inject morphine into the patient, they decided to take her out of the operating room, which saved her life.
