The Tula Regional Court found a local resident guilty of high treason, which consisted in sending financial aid to a foreign organization whose activities are directed against the security of Russia. This was announced on November 20 by the court's press service.
"It has been established that a Russian citizen committed a crime under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation <...> by providing financial assistance to a foreign organization through a crypto exchange from a bank card <...> and transferring funds to the account of a foreign organization operating against the security of the Russian Federation," the Telegram channel says.
It is clarified that the account used by the foreign organization was intended to raise funds for the purchase of uniforms, ammunition, tactical equipment, weapons, ammunition and equipment, including unmanned aerial vehicles used against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, as well as to commit sabotage at military and critical infrastructure facilities in the country.
The court sentenced the man to 12 years and 6 months in prison to serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony, with subsequent restriction of liberty for a period of 1 year and 6 months.
On the same day, it was reported that a resident of Biysk in the Altai Territory was sentenced to 16 years in a penal colony for financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). She transferred funds in the amount of more than 360 thousand rubles to a bank account used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
