- Zakharova pointed to Britain's silence after the FSB's data on the attempted hijacking of the MiG-31
Moscow did not receive any reaction from London after the report of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) on the disruption of the operation of the Ukrainian and British intelligence services on the attempted hijacking of the Russian MiG-31 fighter jet. This was announced on November 20 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"We have not received any reaction from the British authorities on any of their departmental lines, so to speak, to the message that was made by the Russian FSB on November 11 about the suppression of a large—scale provocation by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and its British curators," she said at a briefing.
The diplomat noted that the United Kingdom authorities have taken a rather "convenient" position, traditionally not commenting on topics they don't like.
"They don't see, they don't hear, they're not interested. Why? Because these are obvious failures of the British intelligence services. Well, it's obviously not a good idea to comment on your malicious activity. <...> Among other things, this is participation in extremist and terrorist activities," the representative of the department said.
On November 11, the FSB announced the prevention of an attempt by the military intelligence of Ukraine, with the support of the British special services, to hijack a Russian MiG-31 fighter equipped with a Kinzhal hypersonic missile. It was clarified that the intelligence service was trying to recruit Russian military pilots, offering them up to $ 3 million for an airplane flight to the territory of one of the NATO countries. It was noted that the Bellingcat organization was involved in the plans (recognized as an undesirable organization in the Russian Federation).
At the same time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov compared Britain to a "goose that came out of the shower" after the role of the United Kingdom in the provocation with the hijacking of the Russian MiG-31 was revealed. He added that after the detailed exposure of the FSB, it is impossible to imagine how "the British will be laundered."
