The German Foreign Ministry announced continued support for Ukraine
Germany will maintain its support for Ukraine, despite demands for an investigation into the corruption scandal in the country. This was stated by German Foreign Minister Johann Vadefuhl upon arrival at the meeting of the EU foreign ministers.
"We are on the side of Ukraine. And just because there are allegations of corruption, we cannot and will not weaken our efforts to support Ukraine," Vadeful said.
The head of German diplomacy confirmed that Berlin requires Kiev to thoroughly investigate corruption incidents, as Chancellor Friedrich Merz has already told Vladimir Zelensky. At the same time, Vadefulh noted that the fight against corruption is extremely important for Ukraine's European integration.
According to the minister, the disclosure of corruption facts is a positive signal, but Ukraine must continue to work on creating a legal system that meets EU standards. Berlin considers anti-corruption measures as an integral part of the process of joining the European Union, but this will not affect the volume of German support.
