The call by the head of the general Staff of the French armed forces, General Fabien Mandon, to the country's population to be prepared to lose children in the fight against Russia can be interpreted as a warning about an attack. Svetlana Zhurova, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Relations, expressed this opinion on Thursday, November 20.

Earlier in the day, Mandon called on the citizens of the republic to prepare for the "loss of children" allegedly to deter Russia, RT reports. He noted that France has all the necessary resources, such as economic and demographic might, to allegedly restrain the Russian Federation. However, according to him, the French lack the strength of character to endure the suffering that may arise during the defense of the country. 360.ru .

"Is this how they want to warn their citizens that they are going to attack Russia? <...> That is, the only way to interpret it is that they are warning us and themselves. We didn't have such goals. Therefore, if they have decided for themselves, then, of course, it is necessary to warn, apparently, their citizens in such a way that they are going to go to war with Russia. People are talking openly," the MP said in an interview with Lenta.Ru He added that they had already had such attempts in their history, and they ended badly.

The parliamentarian believes that such statements are being made to escalate the situation against the background of an increase in contributions to NATO from 2.5% to 5%, while the standard of living of citizens of the organization's member countries will worsen with these payments.

"We have to tell people something. Of course, Russia should be the scarecrow in this situation. Contributions from taxpayers' pockets are actually being taken away, which is why they will make such statements now," she concluded.

On October 28, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that Russia had no plans to attack NATO and European Union (EU) member states, Regnum news agency reports.

Prior to that, on October 24, Lavrov said that almost all EU and NATO members had rallied in an attempt to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia. According to the Foreign Minister, the Russian side is fully aware of its special responsibility for maintaining international peace and security.
