Alcohol sales in public catering establishments in the yards of the Moscow region were limited to two hours

Alcohol sales in public catering establishments, the entrances to which are located in the courtyards of apartment buildings, will be allowed only two hours a day from March 1, 2026. The relevant law was adopted on November 20 by deputies of the Moscow Regional Duma.

"Now the sale of alcohol in public catering, the entrance to which is located in the courtyard of apartment buildings, will be allowed only from 13:00 to 15:00 hours. The changes will take effect on March 1, 2026," Igor Bryntsalov, speaker of the regional parliament, wrote on his Telegram channel.

He recalled that since September 1, a ban on the sale of alcoholic beverages in residential courtyards has been in effect in the Moscow region. Only those shops that have an entrance from the street and are located no further than 30 m to the edge of the road can obtain a license for the retail sale of alcohol.

"Our task is to remove alcohol from the yards. Business representatives who take into account the interests of residents will be able to continue working, for example, selling food," Bryntsalov added.

On October 22, the head of the Altai Republic, Andrei Turchak, announced that the sale of alcohol and tobacco in the republic would be restricted from March 1, 2026. So on weekdays, the hours allowed for purchase will decrease from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Fridays — to 4 p.m., on Saturdays — to 2 p.m. The governor also noted that on Sundays and on holidays in shops located in apartment buildings and near educational institutions, the sale of alcohol falls under a complete ban.

Later, on October 29, it was reported that in the Trans-Baikal Territory, alcohol sales in the catering industry were limited from 23:00 to 12:00. The law comes into force on March 1, 2026.
