- The Iranian Foreign Ministry called the draft resolution on access to nuclear facilities a provocation.
During a telephone conversation with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Villera on November 20, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called the draft resolution on access to the country's nuclear facilities submitted by the European Commission and the United States to the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) an irresponsible and provocative step.
"Araqchi pointed to the inappropriate step taken by three European countries and the United States to adopt a resolution at a meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors and stressed that this step is irresponsible, provocative and unjustified. <...> (draft. It is aimed at continuing the policies of these three countries and further undermines the authority and expert-technical status of the agency," the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic says.
The statement says that Araqchi called on all council members to oppose the project.
Prior to that, on October 29, the head of the agency, Rafael Grossi, said that the IAEA does not have and did not have information about Iran's creation of nuclear weapons. According to Grossi, Tehran has confirmed its readiness to remain within the framework of the nuclear non-proliferation regime, despite Western sanctions. On November 1, Araqchi also stated that Iran was ready for negotiations on its nuclear program, but the United States had made unacceptable demands, so the country was interested only in indirect negotiations with Washington, and direct dialogue would be impossible.
Araqchi said on November 1 that Iran was ready to negotiate on its nuclear program, but the United States had made unacceptable demands. At the same time, Araqchi clarified that the country is not interested in direct negotiations with Washington.
