Meat production increased by 49% in Sakhalin region

Since the beginning of 2025, meat production from beef cattle has increased by 49% in the Sakhalin Region. This is reported by SakhalinMedia news agency with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture and Trade of the region.

A total of 640 tons of live meat from beef cattle were produced. The ministry clarified that 336 tons of meat were produced by four agricultural enterprises, 304 tons by 17 farms.

The farmers of the Uglegorsk municipality are the leaders in terms of production growth. In 2025, they used the grant support to develop family farms. Farmers can receive subsidies to reimburse part of the costs of maintaining cows and bulls for meat production, to purchase marketable young cattle and to create facilities for the maintenance or fattening of meat cattle.

In total, by the end of 2025, the region plans to produce 3.3 thousand tons of live cattle meat.
