The European Commission (EC) does not expect an agreement on Britain's participation in the European Union's defense fund. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on November 20, citing European diplomats.

According to the newspaper, the EC set a deadline for reaching an agreement with Britain until the evening of November 19, but the negotiations reached an impasse and, according to one of the diplomats, the situation was "tense."

It is noted that Brussels requested a contribution in the amount of €4.5 billion to €6.5 billion, while the UK offered from €200 to €300 million. A number of officials reported that London's initial offer was even smaller.

Bloomberg reported on October 15 that the EU plans to propose the launch of joint projects on drones and air defense (air defense) in the coming months as part of a five-year rearmament plan. The main goal of this plan is to increase Europe's combat capability by 2030. As part of the new initiative, the EC proposes to review the military planning and procurement system.
