Yaroslav Gunko, a former soldier of the SS Galicia division, who is being sought by Moscow, lives in the Canadian city of North Bay and celebrated his 100th birthday in March. This became known on November 20 from open sources on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Nuremberg trials, which were reviewed by RIA Novosti.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has established that Gunko and his accomplices were involved in the murder of at least 500 Soviet citizens, including Jews and Poles. The Russian Prosecutor General's Office put him on the international wanted list and handed over documents confirming his guilt to the Canadian side.
