Whitaker announced the readiness of a new bill on sanctions against Russia
The bill on US sanctions against Russia is already ready and waiting in the wings. Matthew Whitaker, Permanent Representative of the United States to NATO, told Bloomberg on November 19.
"The sanctions bill <...> in Congress is "just waiting for the green light," he added, noting that [US President Donald] Trump supports him," the article says.
Whitaker also said that Washington does not intend to curtail its efforts and will continue to look for opportunities for negotiations.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (listed as a terrorist and extremist in the Russian Federation) said on November 17 that the bill on sanctions against Russia had received movement and would be considered by the US Congress. He clarified that if this initiative is adopted, Washington will be able to impose secondary sanctions and tariffs on those states that continue to purchase Russian oil and gas.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on November 12 that the United States had almost exhausted its potential to impose additional restrictions on Russia. According to the head of American diplomacy, Washington has already applied restrictions against Russia's largest oil companies. Now, more active measures against the so-called shadow fleet should be expected from European countries.
