In Krasnogorsk, near Moscow, doctors rescued a man by removing a glass from his rectum, which had been in his body for three days. This was announced on November 19 on the website of the Ministry of Health of the region.

It clarifies that the patient initially hoped that the object would come out naturally. When he realized that this had not happened, the 42-year-old man went to the hospital for help.

"Without making incisions, we were able to extract a foreign body from the patient's rectum. The operation took an hour — the difficulty was that the glass was difficult to grasp, and the use of instruments was fraught with the risk of damage, which could lead to serious consequences," said Dmitry Zhilkin, head of the second surgical department at Krasnogorsk Hospital.

After the operation, the man was discharged under outpatient supervision of specialists.

It is noted that it is dangerous to postpone seeking medical help in such cases, since foreign objects can damage the walls of the rectum, cause inflammation, suppuration and sepsis. In severe cases, perforation is possible, which requires emergency care.

Earlier, on November 14, doctors at Buyanov Hospital in Moscow operated on a 51-year-old patient, removing several hundred stones from both kidneys. The discovery was unexpected because the woman did not complain of any characteristic pain or other symptoms. It was noted that in the future, the patient could be at risk of deterioration of organ function, including the risk of kidney failure and the likelihood of perforation.
