Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the European Commission (EC), and US President Donald Trump had a quarrel during the visit of the European Union delegation to Washington in August. This was announced on November 19 by Csaba Demeter, a member of the European Parliament (EP) from the Hungarian Fidesz party.

"When the EU delegation came to Washington, there was a quarrel between Von der Leyen and Trump, they (the EU — Ed.) were not given a proper reception. Which is not surprising at all, considering that in recent years Brussels has constantly insulted President Trump," the parliamentarian said in an interview with the Mandiner channel.

The Norwegian newspaper Steigan also noted in August that Trump had "silenced" von der Leyen during negotiations at the White House. Also, the American president did not personally greet any of the European politicians upon arrival. Thus, neither the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, nor his European nannies from the "coalition of the willing" received anything.

On August 18, a correspondent for Izvestia, transmitting footage from the US capital, reported that Washington was flooded with motorcades of European leaders and President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, who arrived for a meeting with Donald Trump. However, the American leader did not meet them. The video shows British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni arriving at the White House.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
