In Transbaikalia, more than 72% of crops were insured for the 2025 harvest. The National Union of Agricultural Insurers is monitoring the situation in the region, where an emergency mode has been declared due to heavy snowfall.

According to the ChitaMedia news agency, harvesting equipment cannot be taken to the fields due to the fact that one to two monthly norms of wet snow have fallen. The emergency mode operates in several municipal districts, including Chita district and Shilkinsky district.

Since the beginning of the snowfall, grain harvesting has been completed by 89%. Farmers have to harvest from about 7 thousand hectares. Barley has become the most productive, with an average of 25.3 hundredweight per hectare.

The union notes that Transbaikalia is one of the most active regions in the field of agricultural insurance. 103 thousand hectares of crops were insured for this year's harvest, of which 94 thousand hectares were insured under a special emergency program.

The president of the organization, Roots Bizhdov, said that after the drought of 2024, farmers were reimbursed for losses with insurance payments in excess of 31 million rubles.
