Fish export by rail from the Far East will be increased

Relevant departments should take measures to increase the transportation of fish and seafood from the regions of the Far East by rail to the central part of the country. This instruction was given by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The results must be reported by March 31, 2026.

At the moment, fish products are shipped from 11 stations in the region. Russian Railways promised to multiply transportation, writes IA PrimaMedia.

The list of instructions following the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which took place on October 29, states that the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Finance and Rosrybolovstvo, together with Russian Railways, have been instructed to work out the issue of increasing the volume of transportation of fish products by rail, with the participation of the executive bodies of the coastal regions that are part of the Far Eastern Federal District.

The Ministry of Regional Development, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rosrybolovstvo, together with Rosatom State Corporation, must work out the issue of increasing the transportation of fish products along the Northern Sea Route by March 2, 2026.

Earlier, the head of the Far Eastern Railway, Yevgeny Veide, stated at a round table at the Eastern Economic Forum that Russian Railways was ready to export the entire volume of fish products from the Far East. According to the head of the Far Eastern Railway, from 2022 to 2024, small fluctuations in the volume of shipments of fish products in the range of 720-780 thousand tons are recorded, depending on the volume of catch. During the 8 months of this year, it was possible to exceed the volume of traffic in the same period last year by 0.2%.

Rosrybolovstvo notes that by November 11, fishermen had caught 4% less than a year earlier.

Earlier, on November 11, it was reported that the fishing catch in the Northern Basin reached 290.5 thousand tons of fish and seafood.
