Over the past day, 319 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 37 people were killed and 359 injured. 29 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on November 19 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

In the Republic of Karelia, on 179 km of the A-121 Sortavala federal highway, a 66-year-old truck driver skidded a semi-trailer onto the oncoming side of the road in a snowfall, where it collided with an empty tanker truck and a passenger car, which then collided with a crossover moving behind it. The accident killed the perpetrator of the incident, as well as the 42-year-old driver and passenger of a passenger car that was hit by a semi-trailer. A 33-year-old tanker truck driver, a 23-year-old driver and a passenger of the crossover were hospitalized with injuries. Due to the elimination of the consequences of the car accident, traffic on this section of the federal highway was temporarily stopped for several hours, and traffic police officers organized a detour around it.

In addition, in the Chelyabinsk region, on 4 km of the Mirny—Kasargi regional highway, a 42-year-old driver of a municipal garbage truck decided to skip a railway crossing at a forbidding traffic light, but collided with an Orlan rail bus. A truck passenger was killed in the accident, and the culprit of the collision was injured and ended up in the hospital.

As a result of 134 road accidents, 86 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 47 outside their area of operation, eight pedestrians were killed, and 127 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 24 underage pedestrians, 11 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.

18 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, 24 more road users, including four children, needed medical help. 12 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.

So, in the city of Severodvinsk, Arkhangelsk region, in the morning, a 67-year-old bus driver carrying 19 preschoolers aged 6 and two accompanying adults on an excursion did not provide an advantage in traffic when entering the main road at an unregulated intersection and collided with a passenger car. As a result of the accident, a 62-year-old car driver was hospitalized with injuries, and three young bus passengers who suffered bruises received one-time medical care.

Also, 38 accidents involving minors were registered on Russian roads over the past day, in which 38 young road users were injured, including nine passengers, two cyclists and three motor transport drivers. There are no dead children.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded bus drivers that the life and health of their young passengers depend entirely on their driving skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding driving behavior. The ministry also stressed the importance of observing the rules of passage of railway crossings, since this maneuver is considered dangerous and requires the driver to focus and pay maximum attention.

"The analysis of accidents at railway crossings shows that such accidents most often occur at unregulated crossings, where drivers, not convinced of the safety of the maneuver, try to drive in front of a nearby train. Trying to gain a few seconds of travel, they often endanger not only their own lives, but also the lives and health of their own passengers, railway staff, passengers of commuter trains and long—distance trains," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

On November 1, it was reported that following the results of the first nine months of 2025, a decrease in road traffic accidents was recorded in the Russian Federation. The number of road accidents decreased by 2.4% (94.9 thousand cases), the number of dead — by 3.4% (10.1 thousand people), injured — by 3% (117.7 thousand people).
