On November 19, Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev appointed Svetlana Abramova as the head coach of the Russian national athletics team.

"I have signed an order approving Svetlana Abramova as the head coach of the Russian national athletics team," he wrote on his Telegram channel, noting the unanimous support of her candidacy at the expert council and the methodological commission of the Ministry of Sports.

Degtyarev called Abramova an experienced manager with a deep understanding of the training process and expressed confidence that her skills and experience would help the Russian team move forward.

According to the minister, Abramova has been responsible for the work of the pole vault team for more than 10 years, built an effective training system, and educated Olympic, World, and European Championship medalist Angelika Sidorova.

Earlier, on October 1, it was reported that the Russians won five medals at the Paralympic Athletics World Cup in New Delhi. Vladimir Sviridov won the gold medal in the shot put in the F36 class, and Alan Kokoity took the bronze in the same discipline. In addition, Anna Kulinich-Sorokina won gold medals in the 400 m (T12) and Alexander Kostin in the 5,000 m (T13). Victoria Slanova took the bronze medal in the 100 m (T37).
