The former head of Hyundai in Russia left the post of CEO of AGR Holding
Alexey Kalitsev, the former head of Hyundai Motor CIS, has left the position of CEO of AGR Holding (formerly known as Volkswagen Group Rus). He handed over the operational management of the company to Andrey Karagin, the press service of AGR Holding announced on November 19. It is reported that Kalitsev "will focus on the development of new projects."
"Andrey Karagin faces the key tasks of ensuring the development of AGR Holding's production sites, contributing to the deepening of localization and bringing the company among the leaders of the Russian automotive industry, strengthening its technological independence," the statement said.
Andrey Karagin was born in the Nizhny Novgorod region. He has more than 20 years of experience in the automotive industry, including projects in international companies and joint ventures both in Russia and abroad, and served as Vice President of Automobile Production at AvtoVAZ.
In 2024, Karagin joined AGR Holding as CEO of a car manufacturing plant in Kaluga. AGR Holding, among other things, manufactures Solaris vehicles in St. Petersburg and Tenet in the Kaluga region.
Alexey Kalitsev held senior positions at Hyundai Motor CIS LLC from 2010 to January 2024 and was responsible for the development strategy of the Hyundai and Genesis brands in Russia. Since 2017, he has been the Managing Director of Hyundai Motor CIS.
Earlier that day, it was reported that AGR Automotive Group holding intends to invest 37.1 billion rubles in the localization of car production at the former plants of American General Motors in St. Petersburg and 50.6 billion rubles at the former facilities of German Volkswagen in the Kaluga region.
