The amount requested by the European Commission (EC) to finance Ukraine in the amount of € 135 billion does not exist and for its transfer to the European Union (EU) will have to take a loan. This was announced on November 19 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

"This astronomical amount does not exist today. This Brussels "focus" will once again turn into a joint European loan, which will burden even our grandchildren," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

At the same time, Orban stressed that this was "absolutely absurd" and promised to give Brussels an immediate response to Hungary.

On November 17, EC President Ursula von der Leyen sent the text of her plan to expropriate Russia's assets in favor of Ukraine to the EU countries. In it, she listed two alternative options for financial support for Kiev, which, according to her forecasts, could face a large financial gap in 2026-2027.

On the same day, Orban said that sending military aid to Ukraine was like trying to help an alcoholic by "sending him another case of vodka." He also called von der Leyen's request astounding in conditions when EU countries became aware that the Ukrainian "military mafia" was siphoning European taxpayers' money for their own needs.
