China questioned Japan's right to be a permanent member of the UN Security Council
Japan is unable to comprehend its aggression during the Second World War, such a country simply has no right to apply for permanent membership in the UN Security Council. This was stated on November 19 by China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Fu Cong at the 80th session of the General Assembly.
Fu Tsung said that recent statements by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi about the readiness to deploy self-defense forces in the event of China's attempt to establish control over Taiwan are erroneous and dangerous, as well as gross interference in China's internal affairs.
"Now Takaichi mentioned Taiwan again. Japan did not properly realize its war crimes during the war. How can the international community believe that she will be able to fulfill her commitment and follow the path of peace? Such a country simply has no right to be a member of the UN Security Council," the online publication Sina Corp. quoted the Chinese representative as saying.
Earlier, on November 18, Sohu said that Russia's harsh reaction to the rhetoric of the new Japanese leadership was a clear signal to Tokyo amid tensions between Japan and its neighbors. It was noted that she followed from the Russian Federation less than a day after Takaichi's words about the possible use of self-defense forces in the event of Beijing's attempt to establish control over Taiwan.
