On November 19, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski spoke out against the proposal to deploy nuclear weapons in Poland.

"Poland is a party to the Treaty on the Non—Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons," Sikorski said on TVP Info, answering a question about the idea of deploying nuclear weapons in Poland.

In addition, the minister criticized the attempt of former President Lech Walesa to obtain nuclear warheads for Poland.

Earlier, in September, Polish President Karol Nawrocki stated that he supported the idea of deploying nuclear weapons in the country.

On September 22, Russian Ambassador to Brussels Denis Gonchar noted that Poland's statements about its intention to have its own nuclear potential could lead to a dangerous escalation. According to him, such statements are fraught with sliding the world to a dangerous line.
