Both Thailand and Cambodia are important partners of the Russian Federation, so the Russian Embassy in Bangkok is watching with concern the latest negative episodes that are exacerbating the situation, the diplomatic mission told Izvestia on November 18.

"We hope that the current misunderstanding between Thailand and Cambodia will be overcome soon. This would have a positive impact on both their bilateral relations and the situation in the world. Such disagreements are most effectively resolved through bilateral consultations. We are convinced that the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia will show wisdom in order to resolve the conflict by peaceful means," the Russian Embassy in Thailand said.

On November 10, the Thai Royal Air Force called for the termination of all agreements, citing violations of the agreements after the Thai military detonated a mine. On the same day, Prime Minister Anuthin Chanvirakun ordered the suspension of the provisions of the Kuala Lumpur Peace Agreements brokered by US President Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, Cambodian security sources are warning of possible attacks by the Thai military on the border area on November 18, the Khmer Times newspaper reported.

Earlier, on November 14, Izvestia was informed by the diplomatic mission in Phnom Penh that the Russian Embassy in Cambodia urged caution when visiting the country due to the risk of escalation with Thailand. It was clarified that the Cambodian side is currently declaring its readiness to refrain from actions that could lead to the resumption of hostilities.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
