Olympic shooting champion Evgeny Petrov has died at the age of 88.
Evgeny Petrov, the winner of the 1968 Olympic Games in bench shooting, passed away at the age of 88. This was announced on November 18 by the press service of the Russian Rifle Union.
Evgeny Petrov is a six-time world champion and five-time European champion, a three-time silver medalist at the World Championships and a four-time silver medalist at the European Championships, as well as a five-time USSR champion in bench shooting.
After winning the Olympic Games in Mexico City in 1968, Petrov became a coach for the USSR national team. At the 1992 Games, he served as the head shooting coach of the United Team.
