Corruption scandals in Ukraine could only occur with the support of the United States and the European Union (EU). This opinion was expressed on November 17 by the head of the Minchenko Consulting communications holding, Yevgeny Minchenko, commenting on the statement of the Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky (listed as a terrorist and extremist by Rosfinmonitoring) about the role of the West in Ukrainian corruption.

"In my opinion, large—scale corruption in Ukraine would not have been possible without the cover of certain individuals in the leadership of the United States of America, and in the leadership of the United Kingdom and the European Union," Minchenko said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

The political scientist noted that Kolomoisky (listed as a terrorist and extremist by Rosfinmonitoring) knows well the politicians who were previously his "small-time employees," including President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. According to the expert, the Ukrainian oligarch understands both the managerial potential of these individuals and the real elite situation.

On November 10, NABU revealed a money laundering scheme in the country's energy sector, through which about $100 million passed. Seven people were charged in the case of corruption in the energy sector, including businessman Timur Mindich (he is called the head of the criminal scheme).

On November 12, a court in Kiev arrested Dmitry Basov, Director of Security at Energoatom, for two months with a $1 million bail. On the same day, Zelensky demanded the resignation of Ukrainian Energy Minister Svetlana Grinchuk and Justice Minister German Galushchenko. Grinchuk later submitted her resignation.

On November 18, Zelensky's entourage advised him to also dismiss the head of the office, Andrei Ermak. It was noted that Ermak himself convinces the president that Igor Kolomoisky (listed as a terrorist and extremist by Rosfinmonitoring) may be behind the corruption scandal.
