- Turkey has denied reports of its intention to abandon gas supplies from the Russian Federation.
Gas supplies from Russia to Turkey continue uninterrupted and in accordance with the approved plan. This was announced on November 18 by the Turkish Center for Combating Disinformation.
"The allegations spread in some media outlets that Turkey's purchases of Russian gas will stop because it has signed an agreement on LNG supplies with the United States, and therefore an energy crisis is looming on the horizon, are the product of misinformation," the ministry said in a statement on the social network X (former. Twitter).
Attention is drawn to the fact that some media outlets reported on Turkey's alleged plans to conclude gas supply contracts with other countries instead of Russia. The ministry pointed out that Moscow continues to provide uninterrupted fuel supplies to Ankara under long-term contracts between the relevant structures.
"Turkey, thanks to its pipelines, LNG and storage infrastructure, is one of the most reliable countries in the region in terms of supply reliability. There is no risk of disruptions in the supply of natural gas or an energy crisis either today or in the coming winter," the text says.
Prior to that, on October 17, Russia's Charge d'affaires in Turkey, Alexei Ivanov, told Izvestia that the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream gas pipelines continue to operate at full capacity. Through them, Russian gas passes through the bottom of the Black Sea to Turkey, and they continue to operate at full capacity.
Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said on October 2 that Turkey would continue to purchase gas from all available suppliers, including Russia. At the same time, the official added that Turkey also intends to increase its own production. According to him, the country has set a goal to provide gas to 16 million households through its own production by 2028. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on 26 that the Turkish authorities can independently decide on the scope of cooperation with Russia, despite the wishes of the United States.
